Did you know that the average person will spend a total of 3,680 hours, or 153 days of their life, searching for items in their home. Usually, the only time we think of decluttering our spaces is when we are moving, or at the start of a new season. Stressed? Don't worry, we are here to help with the 5-bin approach.
The 5-bin approach will help you declutter, reorganize and turn your living spaces around!
Bin 1: Items that need to be put away. Place the items that belong elsewhere in your space in this bin. Eventually, you'll put them away; the goal is to put them somewhere temporarily while you're cleaning the room.
Bin 2: Items to be fixed. Place items that you plan to fix or that need to be cleaned in this bin, i.e. dirty clothes, toys, or shoes.
Bin 3: Items to donate. These items are in good condition but you don't need them. You can give them to friends or family, or a local charity!
Bin 4: Items to be recycled. This is where items made of paper, plastic or glass that you do not want to keep will go. Add empty water bottles, food containers or magazines and newspapers.
Bin 5: Items to discard. Other items that cannot be recycled or donated should go in this bin to discard.
